About this event

Over the last several years, the Village of Brookfield has endorsed the Metropolitan Mayor's Caucus Climate Action Plan for the region and joined a network of west suburban communities as a voluntary participant in the new Cross-Community Climate Collaborative (C4) initiative.

Join us on February 28 at 6:30 PM for a public input session to help shape Brookfield's sustainability priorities and climate actions. Brookfield Conservation Commissioners and Village staff will be on hand to guide discussions and gather your thoughts on how Brookfield can prepare for a resilient, equitable, and environmentally-conscious future.

Residents will have the opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas related to a variety of sustainability topics such as: energy efficiency & renewable energy, water quality & management, waste & recycling, air quality, transportation, land use and more!

NOTE: Refreshments will be provided; childcare and activities will be available in the lower level rec hall, supervised by trained Village staff for ages 4yrs and older.

RSVP is not required to attend, but will create a calendar reminder for you and will help us keep you informed of future sessions and planning efforts around this topic.

Cross Community Climate Collaborative (C4) is a regional collective effort by West Central Cook County municipalities. The effort is designed to bring together communities to share ideas, secure resources, and drive large-scale projects within and across communities that achieve agreed upon greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions, equity, and sustainability goals.

The Greenest Region Compact (GRC) is the Metropolitan Mayor's Caucus foundational sustainability pledge that is supported by at least 144 municipalities and 4 counties, which encompasses 6 million residents. This is now believed to be the largest regional collaborative of municipalities working toward sustainability in the United States. The GRC articulates sensible sustainability goals that focus on municipal strengths to reduce the impacts of climate change while improving the quality of life for residents.

Metropolitan Mayor's Caucus Climate Action Plan for the Chicago Region encompasses two goals, each with its own interim targets and objectives, to reduce future impacts and adapt to a changing climate: (1) net zero GHG emissions and (2) persistent, equitable climate adaptation.
